Barcelona news: Chelsea should be disappointed because of one reason – Townsend

CHELSEA manager Antonio Conte should be disappointed to have only managed a 1-1 draw with Barcelona.

That is the opinion of BBC Sport pundit Andy Townsend.

Chelsea played magnificently to hold the La Liga leaders to a draw in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash.

Willian scored the opening goal just after half time but it was cancelled out when Lionel Messi capitalised on a major defensive mistake to level it up.

But Townsend thinks Blues boss Antonio Conte will not be happy that his side did not win the game, especially because Willian struck both posts and had the best chances of the first half.

'Antonio Conte will be disappointed,” Townsend told BBC Radio 5 Live.

'Tactically he will feel he got it right.

'His keeper wasn’t overworked, shots weren’t raining in on goal. Plus they got themselves into the lead.

'Chelsea could have been two or three up.

“Willian was very unlucky, his goal was excellent.

“But for the width of the post, Chelsea could have been a couple of goals to the good.'

Chelsea now know they have to score when they travel to Barcelona for the second leg in three weeks’ time.
