IBUYPOWER Masters IV announced with eight teams

Ibuypower will play host to yet another tournament, and this one comes after a gap of more than a year. The IBuypower Masters IV will take place over a two day period from January 19th to 20th. The tournament will see a prize pool of $200,000 which is a significant boost over the normal $100,000 for the organiser. There will be eight teams in attendance at the event. However, the organisers are yet to announce the list of these teams. If previous events are anything to go by, they will mostly be inviting North American teams to their tournaments.

The Tournament Format

The tournament format will see a Double Elimination Best of One Group stage. The playoffs will be single elimination Best of Three. This is a very risky Format as a team only needs to lose two maps in order to face elimination. At the same time, a team can win two Best of One matches and proceed to the playoffs. The potential for an upset in this tournament format is very high and it does not always guarantee a win for the best teams.

The names of the invited teams will be announced soon according to IBuypower. We expect an invitation for Cloud9, the winners of Ibuypower Masters 2017. They defeated renegades in the Grand finals to win the tournament.

Ibuypower has a notorious name in Counter-Strike. While the PC developer is one of the most well-recognised brands in Counter-Strike, it is not always for the right reasons. The brand used to have a team by the same name a few years ago. however, the players were involved in a Matchmaking controversy, one that saw the brand pull out owning teams in CSGO. They did move on to organising events and still having an involvement with the CSGO community.

We will keep you updated with news of this event.
