ESL announces the Groups and match-ups for the IEM Katowice 2019 Major.

ESL has announced the Groups and Match-ups for the IEM Katowice Minors. The CS: GO MInors start on the 16th of January with the EU and CIS minor taking place. The remaining regions will see their competitions start on the 22nd of January. Each Minor features eight teams and has a prize pool of $50,000. The Top two teams from each Minor proceed to secure a spot in the upcoming Katowice Major. The third place in every minor will move to the Third place play-in event. The four 3rd-place teams will compete for two spots to the Major.

All the CS: GO Minors will take place at the ESL Arena in Katowice. ESL has an agreement with the city council of Katowice and will continue to host esport events in the city. The opening matches for the tournament will feature BO1 map formats. As a result, there is a big chance of an upset happening in these matches. Here are the matchups for the Opening matches.

CIS Minor: Jan. 16-20

Group A:

  • Gambit vs. Syman.
  • Nemiga vs. Team Spirit.

Group B:

  • AVANGAR vs. pro10.
  • Runtime.gg vs. Winstrike.

EU Minor: Jan. 16-20

Group A:

  • mouz vs. Valiance.
  • Vitality vs. OpTic.

Group B:

  • North vs. Windigo.
  • Space Soldiers vs. ENCE.

AM Minor: Jan. 22-26

Group A:

  • NRG vs. Imperial.
  • Bravado vs. INT.

Group B:

  • EnVy vs. Team One.
  • FURIA vs. eUnite.

Asia Minor: Jan. 22-26

Group A:

  • Renegades vs. Aequus.
  • CyberZen vs. Grayhound.

Group B:

  • ViCi Gaming vs. GOSU.
  • Beyond Esports vs. MVP PK.
