T10 League 2019 Day 8 Results: Arabians, Qalandars, Tigers and Gladiators Make Playoffs

After a gruelling group stage and an even tougher Super League stage, the T10 League 2019 now has its four teams who have made it to the playoffs. Maratha Arabians, Bangla Tigers, Qalandars and Deccan Gladiators will now fight it out amongst themselves over the weekend for the much-coveted title. The Arabians will face the Qalandars in Qualifier 1 while the Tigers and the Gladiators will face off in the Eliminator on Saturday.

Here’s a round-up of the matches on Day 8.

Match 22: Delhi Bulls vs Qalandars

Qalandars won their last Super League match as they beat Delhi Bulls on the last delivery of the last over. Chasing 99 to win, Qalandars lost wickets at regular intervals as the Delhi bowlers kept them in the game.

With 10 required to win from the last over, George Garton hit the winning six in the final delivery of the last over to ensure that the Qalandars are in the race for the playoffs spot. Qalandars courtesy this win ended up with seven points from six games with a net run-rate of +4.754. Bulls, who were already eliminated from the tournament after their loss to Maratha Arabians on Thursday ended up at the bottom of the points table with three points from six games.

Match 23: Maratha Arabians vs Bangla Tigers

Arabians have looked the most competitive outfit in the league so far.

Yuvraj Singh making a comeback for the Arabians against the Tigers finally found some form as he scored an unbeaten 23 off 12 balls and along with Man of the Match Najibullah Zadran (36 off 15balls) helped them chase down 107 needed for victory in their last Super League match. For once, Chris Lynn failed with the bat after scoring 91 and 89 in the last two matches for the Arabians. The Arabians thus finish the Super League stage with 9 points.

Earlier in the game, the Bangla Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first. The Arabians bowlers did not let the Thisara Perera-led team to get any sort of momentum into their innings. Wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Moores top-scored with 43 as the others failed to contribute. Kasun Rajitha and Dwayne Bravo picked two wickets each for the Arabians.

Match 24: Karnataka Tuskers vs Team Abu Dhabi

Karnataka Tuskers and Team Abu Dhabi played a dead rubber to cap off the Super League stage of the T10 League. The Moeen Ali led-side emerged victorious in the game as they restricted the opposition from chasing down the required total.

Chasing 129 to win, the Tuskers mustered 94/6 in their stipulated 10 overs. They ultimately lost the match by 35 runs to finish last on the points table after the Super League stage. Abu Dhabi finished sixth on the points table.

Earlier in the game, Team Abu Dhabi won the toss and opted to bat. Luke Wright’s unbeaten 57 coupled with Moeen Ali’s 35 and Wayne Madsen’s 20 helped them post a competitive 128/2 in their 10 overs.

The chase was always going to be tough for the Tuskers and it turned out that way. In the quest of keeping up to the run rate, they lost wickets at regular intervals only to find themselves way behind the asking rate. Rookie Windies pacer Hayden Walsh picked up two wickets for Team Abu Dhabi as others picked up one each.
