Combining with Adam Lyth, who scored 50 off just 20 balls, the dup added 91 runs together after the first wicket for the Arabians fell in the very first over. The third and final match of the day was abandoned under bizarre circumstances which saw the two teams split a point each. Team Abu Dhabi scored 118 for 4 after being put into bat first by Gladiators’ skipper Shane Watson. Skipper Moeen Ali scored 18 as Luke Wright (23), Wayne Madsen (29) and Lewis Gregory (20) scored in their twenties to take them to the score.

Rain played spoilsport yet again before the Gladiators began their chase. The real drama in the game unfolded when the match officials including the onfield umpires miscalculated the DLS par score. For once it was set to 62 in five overs. However, the umpires were still unsure about the total and hence decided to abandon the match. The match thus wasn’t abandoned due to rain but because the organizers were able to provide the DLS sheets to the teams.

After the end of the day’s play the Gladiators managed to replace the Tigers to the pole position with both teams on 7 points each. The Gladiators topped the group courtesy their superior net run-rate (+0.980) while The Tigers with a net run-rate of +0.934 dropped to the second position in the points table.
