T10 League 2019 Day 3 Results: Team Abu Dhabi, Tigers & Arabians Register Victories

Day 3 of the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2019, saw Team Abu Dhabi, Bangla Tigers and Maratha Arabians register comfortable victories their respective opponents at the Zayed cricket stadium in Abu Dhabi. Fans witnessed some enthralling and entertaining cricket as the players from both teams showed intensity and competitive attitude in the matches.
Here is a summary of all the three matches played on November 17.
Match 1: Northern Warriors vs Team Abu Dhabi
Team Abu Dhabi led by Luke Wright’s quickfire 23-ball 48 and skipper Moeen Ali’s 20-ball 30 was enough to see them home in the first match of the day. They won the game in just 8.3 overs chasing 93 and by 6 wickets to register a comfortable and commanding victory. Wright won the Man of the Match for his matchwinning knock.
Earlier in the game, the Warriors opted to bat first after winning the toss. former West Indian skipper Darren Sammy and England wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billing came out to open the innings. Sammy’s stay at the crease was a short one with Ben Lughling dismissing him for just 17 from 13 balls in the third over. West Indian powerhouse all-rounder Andre Russell then came out to bat first at number three. His innings was not the usual one as is expected of him. He scored 37 off 27 balls in a rather slow innings hitting just three fours and a six. The Warriors scored 92 in their allotted 10 overs.
Match 2: Karnataka Tuskers vs Bangla Tigers
In the second game of the night, the Bangla Tigers pulled off an upset as they chase down a stiff target of 115 thrown at them by Karnataka Tuskers. A conjugated batting effort led by Andre Fletcher’s 15-ball 40 and Rilee Rossouw’s 10-ball 22 helped them get a great start in the chase, The Tigers were 55 in just 3.2 overs.
The Tuskers bowlers tried to pull things back by taking three quick wickets. The Tigers were down to 55 for 1 to 70 for 4 with the fall of their skipper Thisara Perera’s wicket in the sixth over. Wicketkeeper Tom Moores kept a cool head and scored 18 off 9 balls to help the Tigers end up on the winning side. Fletcher was awarded the Man of the Match on the night.
Earlier in the game, the Tigers won the toss and opted to field first. Johnson Charles (57) and Hashim Amla (47) added 97 for the first wicket as the Tuskers scored a competitive score of 114 in their 10 overs. However, on the night the score wasn’t enough to help them register a win.
Match 3: Qalandars vs Maratha Arabians
Maratha Arabians registered a thumping victory in their second match of the T10 league as they beat Qalandars by 47 runs. Adam Lyth and Chris scored 20 and Mitchell McClenaghan scored 20 off just seven balls to help the Arabians score 107 for 8 in their allotted 10 overs. Yuvraj Singh who scored six in his first game for the Arabians, scored just 14 in his second game.
McClenaghan, after doing it with the bat, bowled a match-winning spell of 9 for 2 in two overs to help his team win their first game of the season. Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga also bowled a splendid spell giving away just seven runs in his two overs.
The Qalandars could only score 60 as they lost four wickets in their quest of chasing 108 needed for victory.
After the third game on the third day of the league, Bangla Tigers top group A with two points. The Tuskers, Gladiators and the Bulls are also on two points. Every team from group A has played two matches each.
The Qalandars top group B with three points having won, losing and having a match tied against Team Abu Dhabi who are also on three points from two games. Maratha Arabians and Northern Warriors are also on two points each.
