Deccan Gladiators’ Hopes Rests On Icon Player Shane Watson, Kieron Pollard to Play Key Role

Indian tycoon Gaurav Grover has acquired the newest team of the Abu Dhabi T10 League, The Deccan Gladiators. The team will be led by Shane Watson, who is also their icon player.

The team has a good blend of young and experienced players, a combination which is key to achieving success in T20 cricket. Watson is a well-travelled T20 cricketer himself. Watson will surely open the batting at the top of the order and he has a few options at his disposal for company. Afghanistan wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Shahzad, and rookie batters Daniel Lawrence and Bahuka Rajapaksha are the alternative options.

All of them can turn the game on their own hands singlehandedly when required. Watson, who has bid goodbye to international cricket is now only available for franchise T20 leagues. While Cutting and Pollard are also specialised T20 cricketers.

Gladiators’ bowling attack is the weakest link in their squad. England’s Tymal Mills and Australia’s Fawad Ahmed are the only two bowlers who have played T20 cricket. The rest of the bowlers namely Zahir Khan, Mason Crane, Zahoor Khan and Imtiaz Ahmed have no experience at the international level or the first-class level.
