The 3rd edition of the eagerly awaited Abu Dhabi T10 League is naturally expected to draw huge attention globally due to the unique format. Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the mega event to commence from the 15th of November, 2019 and it will go on till the 24th of November, 2019, at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.

The 10-over format should naturally mean huge sixes and more innovative fielding and bowling strategies in order to limit big overs. The new season will have several reputed global players battling it out on the field. There will be 8 teams competing against each other for the trophy. The Bangla Tigers and Qalandars are the new teams for this year’s season and they have replaced the Kerala Knights, Pakhtoons and Punjabi Legends.

5 players to watch in Abu Dhabi T10 League 2019

  1. Shahid Afridi: Shahid Afridi needs no introduction for cricket lovers and is known for his daredevil batting, explosive power and reliable bowling. Afridi is an impact player and will bring a lot to the table for the Qalandars. Their new icon player is still capable of taking the game away from the opposition and has scored a whopping 8,064 runs in 398 ODI games with a 117.01 strike rate. He has also scalped 395 wickets in ODIs with an economy rate of 4.63, making him a complete all-rounder. He has played in several global T20 leagues and is one of the perfect bets in this format.
  2. Lasith Malinga: Lasith Malinga was bought by the Maratha Arabians in order to boost their bowling outfit and is known for his deadly yorkers and amazing death bowling. Malinga recently took four wickets in four balls to set a new record and has taken 338 wickets in 226 ODI matches which includes 8 hauls of 5 wickets or more. Malinga generates a lot of pace and has a really unique action which enables him to surprise the opposition with slower bouncers and gentle off-cutters. He will make for a formidable pace duo with Mohammad Irfan in the Abu Dhabi T10 League for his franchise (Maratha Arabians).
  3. Yuvraj Singh: Yuvraj Singh also needs no introduction as one of the finest batsmen and powerful hitters of the ball in ODIs. The all-rounder is still remembered for hitting 6 sixes in succession off Stuart Broad and retired in June, 2019. He has scored 8,701 runs at 36.5 and can score runs quickly in the T20 format as well. He has scalped 111 wickets in 304 ODIs and will be the key man for the Maratha Arabians with Dwayne Bravo giving him company.
  4. Andre Russell: Andre Russell was bought by the Northern Warriors for his abilities in terms of hitting sixes and boundaries and also his bowling and fielding prowess. He will be joined by fellow West Indian teammate Darren Sammy in the team. Russell is one of the highest hitters of sixes in the IPL (Indian Premier League) with studies indicating a six hit by him in every 6 balls. Russell is a fearsome bowler as well, taking four wickets in four balls once in an unofficial T20 game versus India. He debuted against Ireland in ODIs back in the ICC World Cup 2011 and has scored 1,034 runs in 56 ODI games with a 130.2 strike rate. In IPL 2019, he smashed a whopping 510 runs in 14 games for KKR at an average of 56.66.
  5. Kieron Pollard: Kieron Pollard will be playing for the Deccan Gladiators in the Abu Dhabi T10 League and is one of the best global all-rounders who plays in several T20 leagues including the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pollard is known for his big hitting and ability to clear the field along with his capable bowling and excellent fielding. Pollard has 2,289 runs to his name in 102 ODIs and has picked up 50 wickets too. He is the current captain of the West Indies team and will be joined in the league by Shane Watson and Ben Cutting for the Deccan Gladiators.
