Shakib Al Hasan No Longer The Number 1 All-Rounder

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan jumped into the top five of the latest ICC ODI batsmen's rankings after their phenomenal show in the recently-concluded Asia Cup. With this, India will have as many as three batsmen in the top five of the ICC ODI batsmen's rankings.

Rohit, who was fourth in the rankings prior to the start of the tournament, gained two places and has moved to second in the table with 842 points. He also attained his career-best ratings of 844 after his century against Pakistan in the tournament. Shikhar Dhawan, on the other hand, jumped four places to fifth with 802 points and in the process, the southpaw registered his highest rating of 813 points after his century against Pakistan.

India captain Virat Kohli continues to be on top of the table in spite of the missing the Asia Cup with 884 points followed by his deputy Rohit, England captain Joe Root, Aussie opener David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan.

Both Rohit and Dhawan had a memorable Asia Cup 2018 as they scored 342 (at 68.4 per innings)and 317 (at 105.66 per innings) runs respectively. Dhawan was named the Player of the Tournament for his brilliant efforts.

In the bowlers' rankings, chinaman Kuldeep Yadav rose three places to take a career-best third position with 700 points after the Asia Cup. He was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament along with Mustafizur Rahman and Rashid Khan with 10 wickets in six matches at an average of 23.7.

Jasprit Bumrah continues to be on top of the rankings and is closely followed by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dropped two places and has moved out of the top 10 as he is placed 11th with 661 points.

In the all-rounders' charts, Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan jumped six places and has displaced former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan from the top of the all-rounders’ list. In spite of winning the Asia Cup, India gained just one point and continues to be second behind England in the team rankings.
