RCB appoint former Indian pacer as coach

Former India pacer Ashish Nehra has been recruited as a part of the coaching leadership team of Royal Challengers Bangalore for the upcoming season. Despite always having a star-studded squad, the Challengers have failed to win the IPL even once in their history.

While bowling had been a problem for them, they completely rejuvenated it in the last auction – and yet, even their new-look bowling force failed to bring them the goods as they failed to qualify for the play-offs, let alone win the tournament.

As a result, there have been changes in the coaching staff now. Recently, Gary Kirsten was appointed as the coach of the franchise from Karnataka and now he is going to be accompanied by the former India pacer as the coach of the team.

Nehra was the bowling coach of the Bangalore side last season and will continue to be a part of the staff but this time with an elevated status. He and Gary Kirsten will be a part of the team that will assist the captain to help the team deliver in the competition.

Speaking of the news, Nehra expressed his gratitude at being eyed as someone for the leadership role.

'I had the privilege to join the coaching team of RCB last season and feel very passionately about the team. I want to thank the team management for considering me in a leadership position with the franchise and look forward for the successful seasons ahead.'

Nehra has been a veteran in the Indian Premier League, playing as many as 88 games for various franchises and picking 106 wickets in his IPL career.
