Dinesh Karthik had a poor outing in the last IPL season and he is another one among the IP 2020 captains who will be under the radar. Despite having a forgetful season as a captain in 2019, Karthik was retained as the skipper of IPL 2020 after the end of the auction. KKR coach Brendon McCullum announced the same and further added that they are banking on Karthik’s IPL experience for a turnaround this season. Karthik will have the added responsibility of anchoring the middle-order along with power-hitters like Andre Russell and Eoin Morgan. Karthik has 18 wins out of 27 matches as captain overall in the IPL.

Kings XI Punjab named KL Rahul as their skipper of the season after the IPL 2020 auctions. KL Rahul has been performing consistently in all formats since the last year and a half and this is the reason why the franchise was eager to go with Rahul as the captain. Rahul also kept the wickets in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia and also batted in the middle-order, giving a real example of his batting skills. Rahul would like to make the most of his current batting form as he gears up for his first stint as captain for any franchise. This is expected to be a roller-coaster ride for the Karnataka batsman.

Shreyas Iyer was the most influential captain last season after he took Delhi Capitals to the knockouts of the IPL for the first time since 2012. He broke into the Indian ODI and T20I team on the back of his eye-catching performance for the Capitals last season. He scored four fifties last year from just six matches, almost cementing his position at number four in the Indian ODI and T20I team. Both Iyer and Rahul are capable of batting in the middle-order giving India enough balance in the batting-order. Both young captains, it will be interesting to see how they take up the new challenges in the new year. Iyer has won 14 out of 24 matches as captain of Delhi Capitals.
