Enthusiasts are already looking ahead to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. Shanker Basu, the former trainer of the Indian national cricket team, has pulled off a comeback into the mainstream after being appointed as the RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) strength and conditioning coach. His successful tenure with the Indian team came to a close after the semi-final loss at the 2019 ICC ODI World Cup held in the United Kingdom (UK).

This is a homecoming for Basu who was previously associated with RCB prior to joining the Indian team in the year 2015. He is widely perceived as one of the country’s very best trainers in this regard. Along with Shanker Basu, RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) has also made another very important appointment, namely ex-India player Sridharan Sriram who is now the spin bowling and batting coach for the team.

Sridharan Sriram has played eight one-day games for the country. He also worked as the spin bowling coach for the Australian national cricket team. Sriram left the Delhi Daredevils who have now become the Delhi Capitals, before IPL this year in order to take up a position at the Kings XI Punjab IPL franchise. Adam Griffith from Australia has also been appointed as the bowling coach for RCB while Evan Speechly from South Africa is the physiotherapist for the team.

The head of scouting for RCB is now Malolan Rangarajan. The Royal Challengers Bangalore team manager will be Major Soumyadeep Pyne. Ex-New Zealand Coach Mike Hesson has already been appointed as Director of Cricket Operations for RCB while the head coach of the team is Simon Katich.
