Smart Choices made by Team Delhi Capitals for IPL 2020

It can be said that Delhi Capitals (DC) has made some smart choices for IPL 2020 at the auctions. Further, the team has spent big in buying overseas players with a view towards getting the combination right this time around. The team had a surprising revival in the last season, ending in the 3rd position at the finals. After this, they have released 9 players while retaining 14 ahead of the IPL 2020 auction that took place in December, 2019.

DC has successfully retained some of the core players in the team from last season which gives it a base to build on and during the trading window, they traded in Rahul Tewatia and Mayank Markande for Ajinkya Rahane from the Rajasthan Royals team. They also landed Ravichandran Ashwin in a major trading deal. The core of the team looks set with Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane making up the top order with Rishabh Pant somewhere in the middle, depending on the scenario. Here, they have options aplenty in the form of all-rounders like Woakes and Stoinis and batsmen like Jason Roy and Shimron Hetmyer. The bowling unit looks formidable with Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma and either Axar Patel/Amit Mishra. Bring in Kagiso Rabada into the mix and you get the picture.
