IPL 2020 Auctions: Total List Of Players Registered & Opted Out

As many as 971 players have been listed for the upcoming IPL 2020 auctions to be held in Kolkata on December 19, 2019. Joe Root and Mitchell Starc were among the big names who decided to opt out of the auctions. Glenn Maxwell who opted out of IPL 2019 has enlisted his name ahead of the auctions this year. He took a break from international cricket after the 2019 World Cup due to mental health problems and is targeting a comeback via the IPL.

While Starc last played in the IPL back in 2015, Root has decided to give skip the auctions after none of the franchises picked him in the auctions last year. Starc was also a bought by KKR last season but he didn’t play for the franchise as he was suffering from a knee injury.

A total of 73 spots are up for grabs at the IPL 2020 auctions with 29 of them for overseas players. With the various franchises having various needs and requirements it will be interesting to see how they strategize and fill the spots at the auction. Meanwhile, a total of 258 foreign players have signed up to be a part of the auctions.

For the 73 available spots as many as 215 capped, 754 uncapped and 2 players from associate nations will be up for the auctions. Among the 754 uncapped, 634 players are from India. There are 196 capped and 60 uncapped international players. Hugh Edmeades who was the auctioneer in the last auctions will preside over this auction as well.

Meanwhile, the base price of 16 players have been revealed. Among those players, 7 have listed their base price at INR 2 Cr, namely Angelo Mathews, Chris Lynn, Dale Steyn, Josh Hazlewood, Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh and Pat Cummins.

While the likes of Chris Morris, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy, Kane Richardson, Kyle Abbott and Shaun Marsh have confirmed their availability for the 2020 season, with each opting for a base price of INR 1.5 crore.
