Liverpool FC boasts over 300 Official LFC Supporters Clubs (OLSCs) in more than 100 countries across the globe. These fan clubs play a crucial role in fostering the passion and loyalty that define the Reds’ incredible fanbase. Whether they’re in the heart of Merseyside or watching from the farthest corners of the world, Liverpool fans provide the unwavering support that sustains the club’s success.
In our “We Love You Liverpool” series, we aim to bring these passionate supporters closer together, allowing them to learn about each other and share their unique stories. Each OLSC has its distinct identity and history, and today, we shine the spotlight on OLSC Lausanne, also known as the Swiss Liverbirds.
OLSC Lausanne has a remarkable history, officially founded in July 2001 by a group of friends and devoted Liverpool FC supporters. What began with 50 members has now grown to include a dedicated community of 355 active members. This growth surged, particularly during Liverpool’s Champions League triumph when membership swelled to 430.
Being part of OLSC Lausanne carries a special sense of pride and belonging. It’s an acknowledgment that they are a vital part of the extended Liverpool FC family, sharing the same values and traditions as thousands of supporters worldwide. This connection to a great institution like Liverpool FC and its rich history is a source of immense pride for the Swiss Liverbirds.
But OLSC Lausanne’s commitment goes beyond just being fans of a football club. They are deeply involved in charitable activities, dedicating a portion of their annual membership fees to various charities in both Switzerland and Liverpool. It was an electrifying experience to have Liverpool playing in their town, and the presence of thousands of other fans who traveled to Switzerland was truly special. The OLSC organized an event with Liverpool legends John Barnes and Jason McAteer and even had the Champions League trophy on display. Young members had the privilege of being mascots for the game, a dream come true for any football-loving child.
