Real Madrid ready to shell out £70m for Manchester City’s ‘best young player’ – Reports

It’s no surprise that Leroy Sané is starting to attract the richest eyes in all of football. According to a report by Don Balon, Real Madrid Florentino Pérez is willing to offer up to £70m for the German youngster this summer.

Real is desperately looking to sign a winger as a replacement for Gareth Bale. The Welshman has reportedly lost Zinedine Zidane’s trust and his future in the first team is unclear. So as of now, a winger is of high priority.

As we told you earlier, Los Blancos are also interested in Mohammed Salah, but a transfer fee is proving too difficult to settle. In Pérez’s eyes, the 22-year-old Sané would be a cheaper alternative to the PFA Player of the Year.

It doesn’t mean that Sané is a downgrade by any stretch of the imagination, the German has been in blinding form this season. In fact, the 22-year-old has scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists in 43 appearances for the Sky Blues. His contribution to City’s success has made him the most valued asset at the club after Kevin De Bruyne.

Of course, all this talk is only hypothetical if Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are willing to sell. It’s no secret that the youngster and his Spanish manager have built a great rapport since his arrival in England. Pep Guardiola regularly critiques the winger on his shortcomings after every game, encouraging Sané to improve next time. On top of that, Manchester City are one of the wealthiest clubs in Europe, meaning money is not an issue, neither can it sway them.

Could this transfer happen? Perhaps, but only if the suggested fee is doubled and Manchester City find a better replacement for one of the best young wingers in world football. If not, Real Madrid may have to settle with Gareth Bale for one more year.
