ESL announces IEM Sydney for a third consecutive year

ESL has announced the IEM Sydney tournament for the upcoming year. IEM Sydney 2019 will take place at the Olympic Park’s Qudos Bank Arena from Friday, May 3 to Sunday, May 5.

ESL started hosting the IEM Sydney tournament in 2017. The event quickly gained a reputation for being one of the top events in the region. With attendance from several top-tier teams and a boisterous crowd, IEM Sydney 2019 is a trademark event in the CS:GO calendar.

IEM Sydney is quickly becoming a staple esports event not just in Australia but globally and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

It’s a true testament to the strength of esports in our country, and we’ll be working hard to ensure it’s another unforgettable experience for every person who attends.

IEM Sydney 2018 – A tournament growing in stature and magnitude.

The event is becoming a regular in the ESL calendar year. With top teams in attendance, we are witnessing some quality counter strike. Last year, it was Faze Clan who managed to defeat Astralis 3-0 in the Grand finals. It was after this win, that Astralis took the lead at the top of Counter-Strike.

Set for May, this event will be just after the Katowice Major. We can expect teams to come to this event with a new look, possibly just after roster changes. IEM Katowice 2019 will set the pace for the rest of the season as teams look forth to building their playstyle.

What we have managed to build in just two years with ESL Australia and the ANZ gaming community is absolutely incredible. IEM Sydney is quickly becoming a staple esports event not just in Australia but globally and it’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

The event organiser will be working with teams to ensure that none of the teams faces visa issues. Last year, Turkish team Space soldiers and Natus Vincere had to pull out of the tournament due to visa problems. Ticket prices vary from one day passes at  $39 AUD to Global Elite Prices at $1,199 AUD. The tickets will be available on ticketek once the ticket sales go live.

The tickets for this event will go for sale on Friday,  November 16th.
